One of the simplest things car owners can do is switch from the original air filter to a high performance air filter. These filters allow more air to flow to the engione and can increase power and gas milage. Plus this is a simple task to do. Another relatively easy performance enhancement to get more power from the engine is to add a good after-market exhaust system. There are several reputable companies who manufacture these free-flow products for most every auto or pick-up made. Switching to one of these less restrictive exhaust systems will generally increase the engine horsepower by as much as 15 percent when used in conjuntion with the above mention air filter change.

You can also increase engine power with high performance spark plugs. Not only will the plugs give your motor a slight boost in power but also should help with gas milage as well.

For a project a bit more involved but well worth the effort is to add headers to the new free-flow exhaust system. Headers bolt directly to the exhaust ports on the motor, and then the exhaust pipes are bolted to the ends of the headers. You can expect to gain a significant power increase through the four simple modifications mentioned so far.

One area for increasing or maximizing engine power is through the use of the proper oil. Synthetic oils used inconjuction with one of the oil additives that coat the inside of the motor so it creates less friction, can add a few more horsepower to what we have gained with the previous changes.

All five of these engine modificatuions can be done by the average person with basic tools, will result in a more powerful engine, and will not set your budget back to the stone ages.

Auto Racing at the Gold Coast 600 Circuit /2011/11/17/auto-racing-at-the-gold-coast-600-circuit/ /2011/11/17/auto-racing-at-the-gold-coast-600-circuit/#comments Thu, 17 Nov 2011 12:59:26 +0000 /?p=34 Car-racing enthusiasts will attend each year the Gold Coast Indy track in Australia for a weekend of high-intensive driving action around a 1.8-mile, 15-turn street circuit. The big event features some the best car racing drivers in the world: some come from the Indy Car series and Formula 1 and others are some of the best factory car drivers from other championship series events. The Gold Coast race event is the ideal place for race fans everywhere to cheer for their preferred driver and car.

It all begins on Friday, each participating driver, about 28 of them, will have four on-track sessions to practice. On Saturday, there is the qualifiers session, the Top 10 Shootout and then, there is the Gold Coast 300 km race a few hours later. And on Sunday, there is the second and final 300 km race.

Before the start of the race, there are the grid girls who are posing next to each car, standing in pit lanes and acting as promo models. Whatever their role, these attractive girls are present at the Indy car race, as they are also a big part of the excitement on race day.

For those auto-racing fans that want to attend the Indy car race event, the Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercars race takes place, generally in the third week of October, on the Surfers Paradise Street Circuit in Queensland Raceway near Ipswich. There is plenty to see from all sides of the circuit. It has many fast sections, corners and S-shaped curves that will not only test the drivers maneuvering, but will also provide the audience with lots of fast-paced and tricky driving action.
